International students in the U.S. in valid F1 immigration status are permitted to work off-campus in optional practical training (OPT) status both during and after completion of their degree. You do not need to have a job offer to apply for your OPT EAD, and your OPT employment can occur anywhere in the US.
Can you work legally with a student visa?

What happens to my F-1 status during asylum?
Answer: If you maintain your F-1 status (i.e. continue attending required classes, do not work without authorization, pay tuition, etc.), you will remain in F-1 status during the processing of your asylum application.
What happens to my F-1 status if I drop out of school?
