What is an international F-1 student?
The F-1 Visa (Academic Student) allows you to enter the United States as a full-time student at an accredited college, university, seminary, conservatory, academic high school, elementary school, or other academic institution or in a language training program.
Can a F-1 student take an in person course?
Only students with an initial attendance, transfer pending or change of education level I-20 who come to the United States to initiate their F-1 status are required to take an in-person course. What in-person courses are available for Summer 2021?

When do international students get their NIE’s?
Students with valid F visas who will begin or continue an academic program on August 1, 2021 will be automatically granted the NIE and may travel to the United States up to 30 days before the program start date on their Form I-20.
Are there any restrictions on international student travel?
The April 30, 2021 Presidential Proclamation on the Suspension of Entry as Nonimmigrants of Certain Additional Persons Who Pose a Risk of Transmitting Coronavirus Disease 2019 extends National Interest Exceptions (NIE) to students whose presence in India, China, Iran, Brazil, or South Africa may otherwise subject them to travel suspensions.
