Syrio Forel is a bravo and master of the Water Dance, originally from the Free City of Braavos where he spent nine years as the First Sword of the city, before relocating to King’s Landing.

Why did Ned Stark confess?
Ned Stark’s one “bad” moment that we see in the series is when he falsely confesses to treason, leading to his execution. Ned wants to protect his family from the potential consequences of his death and Joffrey’s reign, and, by confessing, he believes he is doing so. Think of this in terms of voting.
Why did yoren protect Arya?
Most likely, Ned was trying to ask Yoren to catch Arya and keep her safe so she could accompany them as they went North, presumably dropping her off at home. When Ned died, Yoren decided to take Arya with him anyway.
