The 1943 S dime is worth around $3 in very fine condition. In extremely fine condition the value is around $3.25. In uncirculated condition the price is around $7 for coins with an MS 60 grade. Uncirculated coins with a grade of MS 65 can sell for around $30.
How did the Winged Liberty Head dime get its name?
Designed by Adolph Weinman and more correctly referred to as the Winged Liberty Head dime, it gained its common name as the obverse depiction of a young Liberty, identifiable by her winged Phrygian cap, was confused with the Roman god Mercury. Weinman is believed to have used Elsie Stevens, the wife of lawyer and poet Wallace Stevens, as a model.

How does a 1983 p dime look like?
I have a 1983 P Dime the image is sunken in with ridges on both sides of the coin, but the edge is smooth and looks like no clad on the backside of the coin. The clad is there but can’t be seen from the edge. On the face side the 3 in the date climbs the side also the TY of liberty slightly climbs the side.
