Who are Tog 24?
TOG24 was founded by Donald Ward in 1958. Their factory, based in the Spen Valley town of Heckmondwike, initially produced footwear then branched into sports bags and football kits in the 70s before finally landing on waterproofs and fleeces. As the brand grew in popularity skiwear and casual clothing were added.
How good is Tog 24?
Like many of the “budget” brands, you sometimes have to be a bit careful with quality, and some of the materials aren’t exactly leading edge. However, find the good bits and they are robust, well made and comfy. IMO tog24 stuff is average quality/performance. Only consider if heavily discounted.
Is Berghaus British?
Berghaus Limited is a British outdoor clothing and equipment brand founded in Newcastle upon Tyne, North East England, and now headquartered in nearby Sunderland. They gave their brand the German name ‘Berghaus’ which translates as ‘mountain house’.

What has happened to Berghaus?
The company employed more than 500 people at its factory in Washington, and Mr Davison and Mr Lockey sold Berghaus to the Pentland Group in the 1990s. The company moved to a new plant in Sunderland in 2015.
Are Brasher and Berghaus the same?
brasher, renowned for its archetypal brown walking boot, will be subsumed into the Berghaus brand from next year. Both are owned by Pentland, and the brasher brand has struggled as a business in recent years, despite a loyal following for its boots. It also has plans to expand the brand as footwear internationally.
