What area does Nelft cover?
Welcome to NELFT NELFT provides an extensive range of integrated community and mental health services for people living in the London boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge and Waltham Forest and community health services for people living in the south west Essex areas of Basildon, Brentwood and Thurrock.
What is the Iapt service?
Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services provide evidence-based psychological therapies to people with anxiety disorders and depression. We assessed digitally enabled therapies for anxiety, depression and medically unexplained symptoms which offer the potential to expand these services further.
How long is the wait for CBT on NHS?
The 28 day maximum waiting standard for NHS psychological therapy services should be a right for everyone who needs them. This should be enshrined in the NHS Constitution, as this is the mental health equivalent to the waiting time for people with physical health problems in the NHS.

What is Iaptus?
iaptus is a user friendly, cloud based and completely customisable electronic patient record (EPR) built to support psychological therapy services delivered by the NHS, charities, third sector providers and in private practice.
What is a PWP?
Psychological wellbeing practitioners (PWPs) are trained to assess and support people with common mental health problems – principally anxiety disorders and depression – in the self-management of their recovery.
Why is CBT not for everyone?
attending regular CBT sessions and carrying out any extra work between sessions can take up a lot of your time. it may not be suitable for people with more complex mental health needs or learning difficulties, as it requires structured sessions.
Can you do CBT on yourself?
Many studies have found that self-directed CBT can be very effective. Two reviews that each included over 30 studies (see references below) found that self-help treatment significantly reduced both anxiety and depression, especially when the treatments used CBT techniques.
Is Greater London a county?

You can contact us in a number of ways: Calls from a BT landline will be charged at the standard local rate. Calls from other landlines and mobile providers will differ in price. NELFT Mental Health Direct is a telephone helpline service available 24 hours a day, every day of the year for people experiencing a mental health crisis.

What is the relationship between NELFT and psychology?
Liaison with other teams, internal and external to NELFT, i.e. BHRUT referrers, RIO, Health Roster, etc. Psychology is the scientific study of people, the mind and behaviour. Psychologists attempt to understand the role of mental functions in individual and social behaviour.
