For each W-2, you will need to include information about your business:
- Your Employer ID Number.
- Your Business Name.
- Your Business Address.
- Your Business’s State Tax ID Number (check with your state’s department of revenue)4
How can I get my tax information without a W2?
If you cannot get a copy of your W-2 or 1099, you can still file taxes by filling out Form 4852, “Substitute for Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement.” This form requests information about your wages and taxes that were withheld. It may be helpful to have documentation, such as a final pay stub, available to complete it.
What should be included in a supporting document?
The most common types of supporting documents are receipts, invoices, and proofs of payment. Here’s the information that should be included on each: Description of additional charges (taxes, service, delivery, etc.)
How do I attach a supporting document to an e-document?
Select one of the three options in the e-document’s Image Scanning tab to attach your supporting documentation. See instructions in next section for details. Supporting documents should be electronically attached as a PDF (5 MB max) in the notes and attachments section of the requisition.
What do I need for my tax return?
You may need other documentation to support your deductions and credits as well, such as receipts for charitable donations you made during the year. If you receive any investment income, you will typically receive a Form 1099 showing the type and amount of income paid to you.
When do I need to file my SA tax return?
Historically, SARS has opened the tax season for individual tax return submissions on 1 July for tax years ending in February. This year will be different in that the Income Tax Return (ITR12) filing season for individuals will commence on 1 August 2020. It is also the first time that SARS will be implementing auto-assessments.
