Are blue badges automatically renewed?
Your Blue Badge is not renewed automatically. You need to reapply for it every 3 years. Your eligibility will be checked every time you reapply. This is to make sure you can still get a Blue Badge.
What are the new rules for a Blue Badge?
Your Blue Badge usually lets you park for free:
- on streets with parking meters or pay-and-display machines for as long as you need to.
- in disabled parking bays on streets for as long as you need to, unless a sign says there is a time limit.
How long does a disabled badge last?
Blue Badges are usually issued for three years, but yours may be issued for less than three years if your benefit award is for a limited time.
Can I get a Blue Badge if I have arthritis?
You may be eligible for a blue badge, meaning you can park closer to where you need to go. If you claim benefits like Attendance Allowance or Personal Independence Payment, or you have difficulty getting around because of your arthritis, then this will support your application.
Can I get 2 blue badges?
Only one badge can be issued per person for their personal use in whichever vehicle they travel. In certain circumstances, if you can’t sign the application yourself, we need your photograph and details, but someone else can sign the application on your behalf.
