What does going through clearing mean?
Clearing is how unis and colleges fill any places they still have on their courses. From 5 July – 19 October, you can apply for a course using Clearing if you’re not already holding an offer from a university or college, and the course still has places. You can use Clearing if: you’re applying after 30 June.
Are you guaranteed a place through clearing?
Yes, you can find student accommodation through Clearing. Universities will usually be able to guarantee you a room providing they have the space. Have back up options in place just in case you can’t get into university halls.
Do you automatically go into clearing?
You’ll automatically be entered into the Clearing process if you don’t get an offer from either your CF or CI choices.
Can I apply to the same university through Clearing?
The good news is that if you were originally rejected from a university/university course, clearing does offer you a chance to apply again. However, one thing to be mindful of is if you have declined an offer, you can’t then apply through clearing to that university/university course.
How long do you have to accept a clearing offer?
This is also an opportunity to ask any questions that you have, for example you’ll probably want to check what their accommodation policy is for Clearing applicants. They’ll tell you whether they will accept you there and then, after which you’ll usually have 24 hours to accept or look elsewhere.
Is Clearing first come first serve?
Is UCAS Clearing first come first serve? UCAS Clearing does work on a first come first serve basis, which is why it can often be an anxious time for prospective students who are submitting an application.
How long does it take for a clearing choice to be accepted?
Formalising your Clearing offer can take from a few minutes up to 5 days. Once you have received a verbal offer over the phone, you will receive an email confirming what you need to do next. The email will arrive within the hour, and will advise you to refer yourself through UCAS track within five days.
