Regret is common when you’re going through divorce or separation. If you made a poor choice in a partner, or committed to a relationship you knew wasn’t right, the feeling of regret may be even stronger. Wishing you could go back in time and do it all over is normal.
What did I learn from divorce after 18 years?
I’ve learned that little boys don’t value sleep the same: If you zonk out on the couch one Friday night, they might stay up until 4 in the morning playing video games. I’ve learned that you probably shouldn’t attend a wedding too soon after getting divorced because you’ll likely end up crying until snot pours out of your nose.

During the marriage that felt like one of the plus points, but now that you are divorced there is every need to. How many people have you seen who within a year or so after their divorce looked better than they had in years! Now, I don’t say these things for superficial reasons.

Add in a young child, and the other spouse refusing to work on things, rather, cut bait and get out immediately with no reason. If left for another person, the pain is unbearable at times. Especially finding out about the other persons affair 2 years later and how it was happening for much longer.
How did I change my life after divorce?
To change stressful, painful feelings, we must understand the original thought causing it rather than looking outside of ourselves at circumstances or people. Learning to loosen my attachment to my thoughts has changed my life for the better and allowed me to see the humor and wisdom in the uncomfortable growth period after my divorce.
