Notability uses iCloud to sync between devices while Evernote uses their own servers. Evernote’s sharing features are far better. Multiple users can collaborate on the same document. It’s not as good as Google Docs but it’s still something useful that Notability doesn’t have.

Simplenote is a, well, simple note-taking app that gets its job done for free, but that’s about it. When compared to the best-note taking apps, it lacks in security and features. These include markdown support, customized tagging and the option to share your notes with different users across the web.

Unlike a lot of other services, however, by default your notes in Simplenote are always encrypted when they’re in transit across a network. This is important. It’s when your personal information is most vulnerable. We believe that all modern services should provide this level of protection by default.

Is Evernote being discontinued?
On June 23, 2021, we will remove the Evernote app from the Amazon Appstore. Customers who currently use Evernote on their Amazon devices can continue to do so, but it will no longer be available for download or update.
Why is Evernote so bad now?
The biggest problem Evernote has is product-market fit. As an 11-year-old company, we can assume that they’re battling some pretty strong tech debt issues as well, which really isn’t a good place to be with so many new competitors entering the market.
