The middle-tiered grading service ANACS has been in existence the longest, but their grading is considered to be acceptable. ANACS graded coins generally trade at lower premiums than PCGS or NGC graded coins. All of the other companies not mentioned above are considered in the lowest-tier of grading services.
What is ANACS certified?
American Numismatic Association Certification Service, better known as ANACS, is a coin grading company founded in 1972.
How much does it cost to get a coin graded by ANACS?
ANACS prices start at $12 per coin valued up to $500 and end at $100 per coin valued up to $25.000. It’s therefore a service with similar prices as ICG, but with a bigger upper price limit.
Does PCGS grade ancient coins?
Granted, at the moment PCGS does not grade ancient coins, but such services have smoked out an awful lot of “enhancement” done to other coins. Coin dealers will tell you it is very difficult to sell this particular coin “raw,” that is without being certified and “slabbed” by a third part grading service.
Does ANACS grade ancient coins?
If you get old slabbed ANACS coins, in the small white holders, they are generally accurately graded and worth paying almost full price for.
Why are ANACS coins not being bid on?
Because the coin graded by ANACS is not being bid on as strongly as the others. Granted there is still 2d left in the auctions so that could obviously change. Log in or Sign up to hide this ad. ANACS is a totally bona fide Third Party Grader.
What’s the difference between ANACS and IGC coins?
ANACS coins came back 6-MS66 & 4 MS68. NGC coins came back 1-MS66, 4-MS67 & 5-MS68. IGC coins came back 8-MS67 & 2-MS68. A lot of collectors are unsure about IGC, but let me say this, I have sent many coins thru them lately and they have been very consistent.
Which is more valuable PCGS or ANACS coins?
At one time ICG graded coins were considered more valuable than both PCGS and NGC (at least according to the gray sheet). My experience with ANACS graded coins is that the early small white holdered coins seem to be on par with PCGS and NGC, and I have always had them crossover at the same grade.
When was the first ANACS coin certified as genuine?
ANACS was created by the American Numismatic Association (ANA) in 1972 with a mission to correct an urgent problem facing the coin hobby. The company certified its first coin as genuine on June 15, 1972.
