As part of the military pay and benefits package, military service members earn 30 days of paid leave per year. You start at zero and for every month of military service, 2.5 days of leave get added to your leave account.
Can soldiers take days off?
Everyone in the military earns 2.5 days of leave (vacation time) for every month of active duty service. That doesn’t mean you get to use your vacation any time you want. If you joined the Navy or Air Force, you’re not usually allowed to take leave until you finish your military job training.
How many days a week do you work in the army?
Being on active duty is similar to working a full-time job. In the Army, for instance, its active duty soldiers serve 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the length of their service commitment (that’s not to say that each soldier works a 24-hour shift, just that there are always soldiers on duty).
Do soldiers get weekends off?
Yes, but if you are on deployment or in the field you may not get time off. Most of the time. There are duty weekends (someone has to man the fort so to speak). However, the amount of weekend duty varies from unit to unit.
Do weekends count as military leave days?
Holidays and non-duty weekends do not count against the 15-day regular military leave ceilings. Regular military leave is recorded by fiscal year. If an employee uses military leave in the pay period of the fiscal year change, a split Time and Attendance (T&A) record is required.
Can the military deny leave?
Military leave can be requested at any time but it’s up to your chain of command to approve or deny such leave. Some leave is not associated with rest and recreation, morale, or vacations–and as such your chain of command may approve it immediately depending on circumstances.
Is military life hard?
Military life can be very stressful on families. Long separations, frequent moves, inconsistent training schedules, late nights in the office and the toll of mental and physical injuries on both the service member and the family can all add up over time.

Can you live in your own house in the army?
When you’ve finished your training and head to join your regiment or unit, here you can expect to be given your own room in the barracks. You’ll share a kitchen and living area, but have your own private space too. Houses are available if you have a family.
Do you get to choose where you are stationed in the Army?
Active-duty service members are often granted basic choice in where they will be stationed after recruit training and military occupational specialty school – called Advanced Individual Training (AIT) for Army soldiers.
Is there a curfew on military bases?
They meet other kids from different places and cultures and there are tons of activities to keep them busy. Many military bases have instituted base-wide curfews for children and teens under a certain age. Be sure to ask about your military installation curfew procedures.
Can the military kick you out for having too much money?
There’s nothing in an enlistment contract that says you have to leave the military if you come into a large sum of money, but there is a clause that allows for service members to request a discharge under “unique circumstances.”
